Herman Tse is an Associate Professor of the Department of Management at Monash Business School and the ECR Network Director at Monash Business School. His research interests include transformational leadership, interpersonal work relationships, team effectiveness, emotional and physiological welling of leaders and Chinese management issues.
Herman has co-authored more than 70 publications including seven book chapters, 26 journal articles, two professional reports and 41 refereed/published conference papers. He has been presented 13 prestigious national and international research awards, including the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management’s (ANZAM) Early Career Researcher Award, ANZAM Best Doctoral Student Paper Award, ANZAM Best Paper Awards, Griffith University’s Teaching Citation Award, Dean’s Research Excellence Research Award and the US Center for Creative Leadership’s Kenneth Clark Leadership Research Award.
His work has appeared in leading books and journals including the Oxford Handbook of Leader-Member Exchange; Encyclopaedia of Human Resource Management; Research Companion to Emotions in Organizations; Research on emotion in organizations: The effect of affect in organizational settings; and also the Journal of Applied Psychology; the Journal of Business Ethics; Human Resource Management; the Leadership Quarterly; the Journal of Organisational Behaviour; the Journal of Business Research; the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology and the Group and Organization Management Journal.
Herman has also been involved in various consultancy projects and evidence-based training programs for large organisations in Australia and China. He conducted a project on leadership frameworks and team effectiveness using data collected from two major banks and a large family-based restaurants in Australia. The research findings were used to inform the leadership development for branch managers and team effectiveness. He also undertook projects with the Call Centres and Mobile Sales department of large Chinese telecommunication services companies, investigating the practical implications of leadership effectiveness and employee turnover.
Herman always translates his research findings into evidence-based practices and Insight articles, providing executives, professionals, practising managers and business owners with the cutting-edge knowledge and effective practices to manage complex issues in their organisations.
