Dr Fahreen Alamgir is a lecturer of Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility in the Department of Management

Her research areas undertake interdisciplinary approaches, focusing on poverty, governance and issues of gender. She examines organisational challenges and mechanisms from the perspectives of social justice, rights and capability, of affected communities in response to globalisation and sustainable development initiatives.

Her current research focuses on global value chain and employment relations focusing on the Bangladeshi apparel industry. Dr Alamgir is the recipient of research grants for studies into employment conditions and challenges faced by women workers of ready-made garment factories.

Prior joining to the academic world she worked for as a Senior Advocacy Office (Policy), Program Manager, Coordinator, and Consultant with international development organisations, local organisations in Bangladesh; and with the United Nations in Afghanistan.
