Dr Roger Cohen’s career spans both industry and academia. In industry, he was part of the founding team and continues as a senior advisor to BetaShares (a leading manager of ETFs and other funds traded on the Australian Securities Exchange).

At BetaShares, his focus is on product development, with a special interest in retirement products, strategies and the Australian retirement income system.

In academia, he lectures in risk management at the University of Sydney and is on advisory committees for CSIRO/Data61’s RiskLab, and the NSW TAFE.

At Monash, Roger contributes towards collaborative research that is industry-relevant and aligned with his interests.

Roger was previously a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank (Sydney & London), where he ran the EMEA index trading desk. He was involved from inception with the launch of the highly successful db x-trackers ETF platform.

Roger has also worked at NatWest Markets in fixed income and at Macquarie Bank, where he was involved in building the global index swap and delta one trading capability.

Prior to his career in the financial markets, Roger was a full time academic in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering. Roger has a PhD and BE (hons1) degrees from the University of Sydney. He was a Fulbright Scholar in the US in 1988. He is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia.
