Jeffrey T. LaFrance is a professor in the Department of Economics at Monash Business School.

Jeffrey grew up on a veterinary farm and ranch operation in rural Montana in the USA. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in economics at Montana State University and a PhD in agricultural and resource economics at the University of California, Berkeley.

He was a Senior Fulbright Scholar at LaTrobe University in 1989, is a fellow of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA, formerly the American Agricultural Economics Association), and a Distinguished Scholar of the Western Agricultural Economics Association (WAEA).

 

Jeffrey’s research interests include econometrics, economic dynamics, land degradation and sustainable agriculture, natural resource use and management, demand theory, nutrition, food consumption and human health, public land management, aggregation theory, and agricultural policy analysis.
